Genius Machines 2021
As the Department of Defense (DoD) continues to enable artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield, building databases and coding software is only part of the picture. The future of warfare aims to integrate human agency and decision-making capability with AI to provide soldiers a better real-time understanding of threats at greater ranges than ever before. Recent interactions between humans and AI have not always been intuitive, but now the DoD is set to take action toward innovating a smarter and improved battlefront. In the next installment of our year-long series, Defense One and Nextgov will convene leaders in the defense and federal government communities to discuss recent developments in soldier optimization through enhanced AI equipment, training, and novel behavioral applications – with the aim to augment humans, not replace them.
